Botanical Name: Calathea Lancifolia

Common Names: Peacock Plant, Zebra Plant, Rattlesnake Plant

Description: This Calathea Lancifolia also commonly called the Rattlesnake comes with dark green leaves that have unique ripples. Like all Calathea plants, the leaves adjust as the sun rotates throughout the day. Calathea Plants, native to tropical South and Central America, Africa, and the West Indies, are grown primarily for their beautiful, brightly colored, upright, oval leaves. Exhibits strappy, spotted leaves and deep purple undersides.

Light: Like many tropical houseplants, bright indirect or filtered light is the name of the game. East facing windows are the best since they provide morning sun and shield the plant from afternoon sun. However, too little light will result in less vibrant colored leaves.

Soil and Water: Maintain a consistent soil moisture but avoid overwatering by using a well draining soil mix and watering when the top inch of soil is dry.

Environment: Rattlesnake plants love warm and humid conditions like their native range in Brazil. Temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit and high humidity will keep them happy. To ensure this stable temperature range, keep these plants away from HVAC vents and open windows.
