Arabica Coffee
Botanical Name: Coffea Arabica
Common Names: Arabica coffee, coffee plant
Description: The coffee plant is a low maintenance plant that can be grown indoors as a houseplant or outdoors to produce coffee beans for harvest. Native to Ethiopia, this plant is a globally important crop consumed around the world for its caffeine and robust flavor.
Light: In the wild, it grows under forest canopies, so it requires bright indirect light with periods of shade. An east facing window is ideal for the best growth and health.
Soil and Water: A well draining soil that is kept moist will ensure good health. Be careful not to overwater or use too much fertilizer. Timing feeding for the summer months will stimulate fruit and therefore coffee bean production.
Environment: High humidity with temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit are ideal for growth and overall plant health. This mimics its native habitat.
